About Brian Joyce
Brian Joyce gained his appreciation for nature as a young boy catching frogs and snakes in the fields by his home. Brian knew he wanted a career working in the environment. Science and biology were his favorite topics where he took that passion and graduated from Carleton University with a degree in Ecology. In his last year at university he developed a keen interest in birds and after watching a tv special on Long Point Bird Observatory he decided to volunteer there in the fall after he graduated. To be continued below.

A short story about me
At Long Point B.O. Brian learned to identify and band migratory songbirds and raptors which is something he continued to do while volunteering at Toronto Bird Observatory. He took that knowledge and gained employment with the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authorities and the DDSB Nonquon Outdoor Education Centre in Port Perry. From there Brian began working for the Ministry of Natural Resources as Park Naturalist for Bon Echo, Murphy's Point and Sandbanks Provincial Park. In 1995, Brian was given the suggestion to start his own migration monitoring station and with the help of Eric Machell they started the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory now celebrating 30 years of songbird migration research.
